Pitaya or "Dragon fruit" is a fruit native to Southern America but is grown in mass in in East Asian and Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Indonesia and more recently Bangladesh. They are also found in Okinawa, Hawaii, Israel, northern Australia, southern China and in Cyprus. Pitaya is generally eaten in those places as well. But it can still be acquired in the states.
